medico legal reports

Medico legal reports are required for a variety of reasons including in insurance matters, workers compensation claims, motor vehicle accident, income protection, life insurance, pre-employment medicals and legal proceedings.

The orthopaedic surgeon writing the report will generally interview and examine the patient, review any supporting documentation and clinical notes and x-rays. Following the consultation a report will be sent to requesting party.

The Australian Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ASOS) believes reports concerning orthopaedic injuries should be written by qualified orthopaedic surgeons who have practised orthopaedic surgery in Australia, are familiar with the jurisdictions involved and are fellows of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA).
