Medico Legal

Medico-legal reports are required for a variety of reasons including opinions concerning insurance matters such as workers compensation, motor vehicle accident, income protection, life insurance, pre-employment medicals and legal proceedings.

The orthopaedic surgeon writing the report will generally interview and examine the patient, review any supporting documentation and clinical notes and x-rays. Following the consultation a report will be sent to requesting party.

ASOS advocates that reports concerning orthopaedic injuries should be written by qualified orthopaedic surgeons who have practised orthopaedic surgery in Australia and are properly trained, familiar with the jurisdictions involved, and are currently fellows of the Australian Orthopaedic Association (FAOrthA).
